Biography Annie Rétivat was born in Paris in 1946. Annie studied at the Ecole D’Arts Appliqués in Paris and worked as a designer and illustrator upon completion of her studies. She eventually explored painting, fully dedicating herself to this new artistic passion.
Annie Retivat examines solitude, time, intimacy, and space and captures a world of infinity in her paintings. She engulfs her mystic and romantic feminine figures with an endless world. Retivat is known for surrounding her elegantly dressed women with a never-ending atmospheres of earth, sky, or sea in shades of gray, blue, and brown.
Annie Rétivat’s paintings were first featured at Galerie Contemporaire Geneva, Switzerland in 1973. Since then, she has exhibited in important galleries including Galerie Naifs et Primitifs in Paris and the International Arts Expositions in New York and Washington, D.C.
